Foodprint

Image result for foodprint

This week in the afternoon Michal the owner of Food print business has been active for 6 months. She came in to talk to LS1 and LS2 about enterprise, for our Inquiry topic. Did you know, that 20 million bread is wasted every year in New Zealand (more than NZ's population)? Before she created food print she planned on the logo/ name. For her name, it took her for months to figure out a name that was short and bold. For the logo/colors and the designs her team created 4 choices for her.

If you would like to download the app, remember to write down: Food print.

Water Filter

Last term for Inquiry Joseph, Nidhi, Miiana and I. There were groups of 4 or 5 with 1 year 7 as a leader per group. My group's leader was Miiana. The challenge for each group was to try and make your group's water clear. Before we made the experiment each group planned on what materials they were using. Using the materials we had.

Early Maori Enterprise

This week during Inquiry I worked with Florence, Fui and Victoria. As a class each group had a chance to say there syllables out loud that had 5 sentences. I found it so scary presenting my syllables to the class. The first text at the top was our original one, but then changed the sentences into 5 sentences and the syllables into 10.

Catupult challenge

Last week on Monday Fui, Haylee, I , Taheesha and Florence worked together on a catupult task. Our challenge was to create a catupult that could sling the dice at the paper target on the wall. To make our base stronger we used triangles to make it strong. The design we created was a trebuchet. Our leader (Fui) gave each person a role in our group to make the trebuchet. In the start we found it a bit hard to do but once we did our second challenge, Florence knew what to make. Next time we  need to work on making the trebuchet: to make the arm of the trebuchet stronger.

I learnt that it took the Soldiers and etc on the boat 48 days from Australia to Egypt to fight. We have being working on this DLO since the morning block to the afternoon.

Here are there blogs:

Continents of the World

Did you know that there are 7 continents in the world? Well, today my partner and I made a DLO about the 7 continents around the world. We included the founders of each continent, three facts about 3 different continents, the map of the continents and the names of the continents. My most shocking fact was finding out that James Cook was the first ever person to discover Antarctica, another fact that was interesting is that Asia is the biggest continent, population and the size out of all the continents. Out of all these facts which fact interested you the most out of the facts that we wrote on our DLO.

DARE Impact Message

Today Constable Cyrus came to talk to us about the DARE program. I have worked together with Nyjah, Fui, Victoria and I. We made a DLO that explains why it is a Bad Choice to Drink and Drive. We are leaving a Message for those people out there that are making a Bad Choice if you Drink and Drive, because you may risk a life if you crash into someone's car or if you are getting away with it. We all have learnt today that if you Drink and Drive, Smoke and etc it hurts your body. But if you smoke you can have Lung cancer and your lungs is something that is a part of your body that helps you breathe air.

Venn Diagram

Today I have made  a Venn Diagram about Martin Luther King Jr. We got to choose a person that has good Qualities of being a Role Model. I chose Martin Luther King Jr because he spoke up and he beilved that Black and White people shouldn't have a side they should come to together as one. Ever since that speech was made today black and white people don't have one side to their self anymore. They are together!

Role Model

This week I worked together with a lot of people. My group had Jack, Angela, Giovanni, I, Nidhi, alice, Julian, Jayden and Holly. We did a comparison about what is a hero and how to be a role model. Jack and Julian did some drawings for our slides and the rest of us did the comparison.

Te Tiriti o Waitangi

A special event has been happening for the pass few years, which is the Treaty of Waitangi. As an excitement LS2 is working collaboratively to learn about the Treaty of Waitangi. Did you know that the Treaty of Waitangi was signed in 1840, 6th of February? More than 500 chiefs signed this. This slide included information about the Treaty of Waitangi. We did a lot of summarising, but at the same time we learnt a bunch of new vocabulary words. We collaboratively communicated together for the last task, which was to choose 2 questions and communicate with our group at the same time. The questions that we chose were what factors make a successful partnership between two people and what would Aotearoa be like today if we had no treaty. We listed down a lot of ideas, as we started talking. Talking was the main thing that helped us during this activity.

Victorian Times

Last week I worked together with Nyjah. We researched information about what is life in Queen Victorians land. Most people are poor but a little bit of people are rich. I learnt that Queen Victoria had a private school with a teacher that taught her English and German because her dad was English and her mum spoke German. She became Queen at the age of 18 years old after her fathers death.

World War 1

Today I worked together with Avalon. We had 2 tables that had Facts and the marking. Me and Avalon got all of it correct because we remembered facts about World War 1. One of the facts that I didn't really know was Allied forces had New Zealand, USA, Australia, England and other countries. I learnt that the Zeppelin Raids was a Ship. It was created in May 1915. Bombs could be dropped on the ground from the sky. You also needed people or someone flying it and controlling it.

We think peace is?

This week in Inquiry me and Avalon have being working on We think peace is for 2 days and finished it 2 days later. We decided to do Martin Luther King, jr because he is a inspiration and helped people today to have freedom. I did some drawings that is about peace and I thought about doing drawings about peace that came from my heart. It was pretty easy because I love drawing and also finding facts about a inspiration person around the world. In our google slide it had facts, drawings, 25 word summary, collage and the meaning to the Chinese symbol. We also gave some writing on some slides explaining about peace or where peace comes from. On the collage I have decided to do a hand and a light sky because it is my hand giving respect and giving my hand to god.
