Taking Action | Day 3 Activities Week 4

On your blog, tell us which one of the videos you liked the best and why..

The first video because Grant Ryan is a inventor that saves animals life. He's the Cacophony founder. He invented traps and a camera to see what the animal sounds like so they know what type of animal it is. On your blog, post three facts that you learned about the Māui Dolphin that are true. Then, using your imagination, create three more statements about Māui dolphins that are not true (i.e. false). Please don’t tell us which of your statements about Māui Dolphins are true and which are false. It will be the job of the students and staff who read your blog to figure it out.
  • Maui are the smallest 32 dolphin species in the world.
They have 20 years of living.
They weigh up to 50 kg.

Does Female Dolphins grow 1.7 meters long?
They have 5 type of food.
Little baby Dolphins become adults at the age of 5.

On your blog, list 10 species (animals or plants) that you would protect from extinction. For each one, give a reason as to why you think it is important to protect.

Rose flowers
Tiger - Any color
Monkey
Lion Brown
Koala
Fox Brown
Zebra
Sun Flower
Daisy flower
Wolf White

I chose these animals and flowers because these flowers because I love them, their beautiful and I mostly  love roses because they have a nice shape. Some of these animals are dangerous but I want to protect them. On the other hand I chose animals that could be trained and they look so cute.

Today I did 3 activities. My favorite activity doing was the Bonus activity because I got to chose 10 species of animals and flowers too. These 3 activities were about Taking Action it means we're helping out or other people are taking action.

  1. Kia Ora Chavda,

What an outstanding group of activities that you've completed. I have complete these activities too. I chose the first video too, because of the inventions that he invented. You gave a great statement for why you chose that video. Some of the animals that you listed were similar to mine. The animals that you have chosen are interesting. Did you enjoy doing these?

    Great Work!

  3. Good afternoon Chavda,

Lee here from the SLJ team. Firstly I'd like to say that I've noticed your handy commenting, so thankyou for that!

Secondly well done on finishing the activities! I'm catching up on all your great work.

I agree with wanting to protect monkeys from extinction, and all the others of course. Which of the animals do you think is the closest to extinction at the moment?Sounds like some really good learning was going on on this day!

    Well done again

  4. Hello Chavda! It's great you have included both animals and plants you would want to save. I also liked you're reasoning for the 10 that you listed and enjoyed hearing what you had to say. I really liked some of the animals you listed as well as the flowers. What is your favourite flower? Keep it up!

  5. Hi Chavda,
Well done on finishing these three Summer Learning Journey activities. Your facts about Maui's Dolphins are great. I had no idea that they were the smallest out of 32 different species of dolphins. Also, the list of animals and plants you would save is great. Keep up the good work.
