The Air Up There | Day 2 Week 3 activities

On your blog type out the four ‘Un-believable Facts about Bumblebees’ and fill in the blanks for each one.

  1. The word ‘bumblebee’ is a compound word (bumble + bee). The word ‘bumble’ means awkward or confused.
  2. Bumblebees can fly very quickly. They can reach ground speeds of 1.1 kilometers per hour (km/h).
  3. Bumblebees can do more work and carry more pollen than other bees, including honeybees. In fact, they can do In a glasshouse one bumble bee can pollinate up to 450 flowers per hour times as much work as a normal honeybee.
  4. The number of bumblebees is declining in New Zealand due to a number of factors, including landscape, habitat loss, the mechanization of agriculture and extensive use of pesticides [insert any two causes of the declining number of bumblebees].
On your blog, tell us what you would put in your special sink.

I will put in the sink:
  • Beans
  • Carrot cake
  • raspberry chocolate

How long would it take to remove all the mould from the classroom? I think its.. 36 days because 5x7= 36.

This equation was hard because I didn't know what strategy to use, the times table idea popped up in my head and I couldn't think of anything else.

  1. Hi there Chavda,
Well done for completing another task. I am commenting on the second post. Know I know why you don't like beans. Of course, Beans and Carrot cake is YUCK! If carrot cake and Beans were the only food in the world What would you eat?

Do you get any other Yucky food you got in mind?

    Excellent work,
    Joshua

  2. Hi Chavda

I jut read over your solution to the mould maths problem. You said that it was hard but you used the right formula. What made you decide to do it that way?
You may want to double check that you have typed out the right answer?

    Have a great day,
    Izzy

  3. Kia Ora Chavda,

What an outstanding effort that you've worked for. I did the same activities like you too. Your tasks that you completed are great. You got the formula right, but you may want to check the answer. I got 35, because I times 5 and 7 which made 35. Good girl for trying your best. Were there any other disgusting foods that you would put in your sink? You might want to try the bumblebee one too, but everything else looks great. Which one was your best activity for this day?

    Nice One!

  4. Hello Chavda! Well done on these activities once again. It just so happens that I don't find any of the three foods you listed disgusting, so I'd say the opposite and keep them out from draining in the sink like many others. What makes the foods nasty to you? Keep it up!

  5. Hi Chavda,
Well done on finishing all of these Summer Learning Journey activities. I think that you have done a great job. Your facts about the bumblebees are great. However, why would you want to throw away any chocolate? It's delicious. Keep up the good work.
